To fit this stand on any of the Ducati 749/999/851/888 series, you will need to also use a bracket from any of the 749/916/996/998 or 1098/1198 SBK series to make it fit.The last picture shows a Ducati 916-style kickstand bracket on a Ducati 888. If you source a 748-998 kickstand bracket from eBay or elsewhere, you can bolt up the SSR Billet Kickstand on your 749/999/851/888.

With this upgrade, your Ducati doesn't lean over like the Tower of Pisa on its kickstand. We have an aftermarket kickstand on every one of our Ducati, either because the bike leaned over too much on the stock kickstand from the factory or because it was decided to raise the back end of the bike to quicken steering.

This kickstand is 1 inch longer (25.4mm) and prevents the bike from leaning over dangerously on the kickstand. What is the danger of the bike leaning over too much? First, the more the bike leans over, the more weight is on the kickstand. This is dangerous when parking on tarmac because the kickstand can punch through the surface. With a longer kickstand, less weight is applied to the kickstand and it is less likely to punch through softer surfaces.

Second, it takes a lot more effort to straighten up a bike that leans heavily. Riders have pulled muscles and strained themselves trying to muscle bikes off the kickstand.

On the 749/999, the kickstand switch mounts to the backside of the kickstand. There is a machined hole on the backside of this billet kickstand for this fitment. On other models, the kickstand switch mounts to the front side of the kickstand.

An adjustable "stop screw" allows for adjustment of the "up" position of the kickstand.
